As we work through the year, each student will create a binder filled with maps, pictures, and information about each state. We’ll discuss geography, mapping, state history, state symbols, etc. and work towards memorizing all 50 states and capitals. In an effort to reach that goal, we’ll discuss study and memorization techniques and take frequent quizzes in class. In addition to group work during class time, each student will also be expected to do some state research at home. In the spring, each student will be required to complete a final state project: a class presentation with decorated tri-fold board and accompanying report.

*Students must have weekly access at home to the internet and a printer.

Materials required: one 1 1/2’’ binder, pack of 100 clear page protectors (can be put in binder), 50 index cards, sharpened pencils/ erasers, notebook for assignments and quizzes.
